What happens to your data

Hintora sees your screen only when you ask a question, follow a guide or circle something. The pictures go to an AI model to answer you and are never stored on our servers.

Your voice is sent only while you hold the dictation keys or take meeting notes. It is turned into text and the audio is not kept on our servers.

What Hintora remembers about you stays on your Mac, in an encrypted file. You can pause it, forget any part of it or delete it.

Dictation history, notes, snippets and meeting notes sync to your account, encrypted with a key of their own. Turning sync off deletes our copy.

While Hintora is open and memory is on, it notes on your Mac which app and site you are using, and may send short pieces of text, with secrets hidden, to an AI model to decide what to remember. It doesn’t record your keystrokes or your screen, and doesn’t listen until you hold the keys or turn on “Hey Hintora”, which listens on your Mac.

Requests go through the Vercel AI Gateway to the model providers we list. We ask for zero data retention wherever it is offered, and name the requests where it isn’t yet.

We don’t train AI models on your data. We don’t sell it and don’t use it for advertising.

Product analytics (PostHog, EU) and crash reports (Sentry, EU) never include your words, voice or screen, and each can be turned off.

Our API and database run in Frankfurt. Providers outside the EU are covered by the EU’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Ask, and we delete your data within 30 days or send you a copy of it within a month.

No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 yet.
